Role Overview

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented PreViz Asset Builder to join our dynamic PreViz team. In this role, you will be responsible for creating, optimizing, and managing 3D assets used in cinematic previsualization sequences. Your work will support directors, previs artists, and virtual production teams by ensuring that environments, props, and supporting assets are production-ready, performant, and visually consistent within real-time workflows.

This role requires strong proficiency in Autodesk Maya and Unreal Engine, with a focus on building efficient assets that support rapid iteration and real-time storytelling.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create high-quality 3D assets—including environments, props, and set dressing—based on concept art, reference, and production requirements.

  • Model, UV, and prepare assets in Maya for integration into real-time pipelines.

  • Import, assemble, and optimize assets within Unreal Engine, ensuring proper scale, performance, and visual consistency.

  • Collaborate closely with PreViz Shot Creators, Technical Artists, and Supervisors to support scene building and sequence development.

  • Maintain organized asset libraries and adhere to established naming conventions and pipeline standards.

  • Optimize geometry, materials, and textures to meet real-time performance targets while preserving visual clarity.

  • Iterate on assets based on creative feedback and evolving production needs.

  • Support troubleshooting of asset-related technical issues within the real-time environment.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in 3D asset creation for previsualization, virtual production, games, or animation.

  • Strong proficiency in Autodesk Maya for modeling, UV layout, and scene organization.

  • Hands-on experience working within Unreal Engine for asset integration and scene assembly.

  • Solid understanding of real-time asset optimization techniques (polycount, LODs, texture management).

  • Experience creating modular assets and working within structured asset pipelines.

  • Ability to interpret concept art and reference material accurately.

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, iterative production environment.

Bonus Skills

  • Experience with material creation and shader workflows in Unreal Engine.

  • Experience of Substance Painter.

  • Familiarity with lighting and environment layout for cinematic scenes.

  • Knowledge of version control systems (e.g., Perforce, Git, or similar).

  • Experience supporting virtual production or on-set visualization workflows.

  • Basic understanding of rigging or animation workflows.

  • Background in film, animation, or game development pipelines.

  • Experience working with scan data, photogrammetry, or kitbash workflows.
